I've read it's about Ringo's first wife, who died of leukemia. Beautiful, beautiful song.

A masterpiece. The song just tugs and tugs at my heart strings and the video matches the poetic melancholy. "Life as it happens, nobody warns you, Little Willow hold on tight". Hold on tight.

A beautiful and poignant song with such a touching message for us all.Life is so uncertain and every moment is precious indeed.Although we never get over the loss of those dear to us, we do get past the hurt and continue on as best we can.May God bless Paul McCartney for having composed this work of art.Peace.

Quote from Wiki: "Starr later admitted that his first marriage [to Maureen] had been dysfunctional, confessing that he had been "a drunk, a wife-beater and an absent father". I wonder if he can still sleep at night?

First time I have heard this really nice. I never knew ringo was married before I allways thought Barbra bach was his first and only wife.

I wish Paul McCartney would get hypnotized and take him back to 1965 Where he sits a home at his piano and is told that the music just starts flowing through his mind like a stream one beautiful song after another. He hears them as if they were in the can While he is under he is told to sing and play the new songs on the Piano and they all get recorded. Then he goes ahead to 1966 and the tunes flow again all new after this he listens to the tapes and does his 3Rd solo album. Only this one is made to sound like a Beatles Album with new songs from the 60'S. It will be his best album ever and will become Number One worldwide.

Paul McCartney wrote this song in memory of Maureen Cox, ex Ringo's wife's death in december 1994 and the song appeared on his 1997 album, Flaming Pie, with a dedication to her children.
