Paul Carrack (born April 22, 1951 in Sheffield, England) is an English keyboardist, singer and songwriter. Carrack has had multiple careers which have overlapped over the last three-plus decades. He has been a member of several bands including Ace, Squeeze, Mike + The Mechanics, and Roxy Music, been a session and touring musician for several others, and has enjoyed success as a solo artist as well. His distinctive voice shows up on some of his affiliated bands' best-known hits.

Nunn joined the New Wave, techno-pop band Berlin in 1979, but temporarily left the band the following year to pursue an acting career. In 1981, Nunn rejoined the group as the lead vocalist and would soon forge her recording career with the band. Nunn's greatest success with Berlin was the top-selling single "Take My Breath Away", the love theme from the film Top Gun, which reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Other popular songs voiced by Nunn included Sex (I'm A...), The Metro, No More Words, and Masquerade.

In 1989, Mike + The Mechanics had a UK No. 2 and US No. 1 hit with the "The Living Years", on which Carrack again sang lead. Also in 1989, Carrack recorded a duet with Terri Nunn from the Los Angeles-based synth-pop band Berlin entitled "Romance". The song appeared on the soundtrack to the movie Sing, starring Peter Dobson and Lorraine Bracco.

I guess this song was too mellow to even make the Hot 100.

i was 16 back in 1989, and had forgotten about the song until I'd heard a different Paul Carrack song for one of those Time/Life promotions. I remember loving this song back in 1989 and wondering why it wasn't a bigger hit. The use of minor chords throughout the song just add a feeling of melancholy to the song that was the late 1980s...

i practically grew through my childhood in the 80s, but unfortunately i was so ignorant of what was going on back then. i knew bits and pieces, certainly loved a lot of songs back then, but never really knew what was going on in the world, especially in the music world, at that time. i wish i was more cognizant

Actually, now that I hear it a number of times, it actually sounds pretty perfect, or close enough. So nevermind my initial suggestions for its improvement. That was when I first re-heard it, after a long-many-year span. This is one astonishing tune! Quite a rarity.

Again, really gorgeous song! For those of you who like romance movies a lot, I would recommend "Baby, It's You", with Rosanna Arquette & Vincent Spano. The scenes from "Sing" kind of remind me of that one, for some reason.

Beautiful song! One improvement though, would have been having the two vocalists sing a few more lines by themselves, here and there, during the refrain; maybe exchanging a certain piece in the later chorus part at different repeat moments. But other than that small idea, they did fantastic, and it was really well done.
