I just can't stop listening to her songs. Wish she did not die so early. She was only 30 years old. She would have given us so many beautiful songs like this one.

January 4th, 2015It is amazing how in the blink of an eye time just goes on by! I was recollecting about a crucial decision that I made 20 years ago. And that was whether or not to marry off very well and be provided for or marry the "poor man's roses". I chose the "poor man's roses" because he is the love of my life. He didn't have a pot to piss in. And it didn't matter to me. He wanted to put the world at my feet. And he proceeded to do just that. He didn't understand, listen or accept that all I needed was to be in his arms and I was HOME. And his sweet kisses took me to another place and it was "the closest to heaven that I have ever been." I even risked my very life and that of our unborn child to give him a son of his very own. I wanted for him to relive his childhood. I wanted for his pain and fear of abandonment to cease. And he didn't get it then and he certainly doesn't get it now. I love him so much that I have him all of me and I had no problem placing my life at risk to give him a son. I reacted very negatively to being always alone and for being denied what I wanted so badly, and that is to be a family. I suppose I loved him too well. Our marriage ended in divorce and I was very hurt and angry and all that for a very long time. He moved on and remarried and procreated 4 more children. He left behind our son 9 years ago. It was very hard on us. As it turns out our son is very much like his father. And he has been taking out his anger out on me ever since then. Mental illness is prominent in my maternal side of the family. And we are all pretty much eccentric. Sometimes we refer to ourselves as the crazies but only we can say that! Nonetheless, now that I am past all the hurt, anger and pain, I find myself finding it virtually inevitable expressing/professing my feelings. So Rob if you come across this message. Know this, I am not angry, hurt, bitter or crazy about what happened between us. I have nothing but love for you. And I hope and pray that God continues to bless you and your loved ones always, always. You will always be the love of my life. All I have ever wanted is for you to be at peace with yourself and to be happy. Are you happy? Because if you are happy I am happy too. I dedicate this song to my beloved "poor man's roses". With love always, Mexilocks

Easy to sing of preferring roses over gold, when you already have plenty of gold to start with. Still, a nice song.
