One of the unjustly forgotten songs in history.

Papel Maché... suave, sedoso como la voz inigualable, única y exquisita de Miss DIONNE!

Compared to her Bacharach-David hits before it, this song seemed to sink into obscurity upon its release. I remember discovering it in the early seventies and loving it instantly. I still don't understand why this and the sublime "Amanda," the theme from "The Love Machine," received so little attention.

I bought this LP, unheard, the day it came out. I went downtown to pick up the current release by someone else (was either Bread or Supremes, can't remember) but, when I saw Dionne in the New Releases Bin...well, needless to say, I am on my 3rd pressing of this LP. As far as I am concerned, it's one of her VERY BEST! What turned out to be extra nice was the couple of HUGE hits off of this disc! Thank You for Posting...you brought back some great memories!

I thought I had all of Dionne Warwick's songs- in one format or other. But not "Paper Mache", which I heard yesterday on a Las Vegas (KJUL) easy listening/oldies station. Bachrach/David are/were marvelous songwriters.

That's very good to know. I use either flac, wav, or mp3 when it comes to transferring vinyl. In most cases I use wav, especially for audio restoration. Is good to know that u used a McIntosh receiver, one of the best and now very hard to find :D

The sound card is a Realtek that came with the Asus mother board. It is first played through a McIntosh stereo receiver. They claim it is one of their better ones, but I haven't used or compared it to any high end audio cards. It does record up to 196.000Hz at 24 bits, but is a waste as youtube only goes as high as CD quality 44.100Hz, and it takes up a lot more space. I use an AIFF format not MP3 for recording.

That's fab. What kind of card did u use to connect the receiver to the computer? I have an Ion turntable but nothing like Onkyo or Technics for the best sound from vinyl :D

This song should've gotten more air play. It was almost forgotten after 1972. Such a damn good song. Ronnie Aldrich does an excellent instrumental version of this song. Dionne obviously has the best vocal version.

Thank you for posting. I got to meet Hal David a few years ago and mentioned this song to him!

it's kinda late one night and I play some friends some off this goodness along with some fifth dimension. They hated my selection but that didn't stop me from bombarding them with the awesome music that was my childhood. Next up.......curtis mayfield..

I can just get lost in this song. I'm just getting back into vinyl and to my ear the contrast against digital CD is unmistakable. I assume it has much to do with compression and the loss in resonant spacial "presence" as captured by the original mic placement. Beautiful Onkyo, the tracking is just great. Thanks for posting.
