Ed Stewart looks at the weekly pop chart from 30th December 1971 and introduces Tony Christie, Congregation, Johnny Pearson Orchestra, The New Seekers, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, BJ Arnau, Neil Reid, Val Doonican, Benny Hill and two Pans People dance sequence's.
The first of two from this episode introduced by budding pirate Ed Stewart (I think he was called 'Stewpot' still by this time or just started to be called it - from what I can remember from my Look-in youth)
Nice promo for this Streisand song, danced on a harrier ship, in what looks like the middle of the summer (unless it was shot in December and the Pans girls had each drunk a pint of Antifreeze) dressed in white with floppy hats on.
So so routine to a so so song, not the best but it does the trick thou fellas.
This copy was supplied by Vin from the blog, I'll let him explain about this clip in more detail....
"you may have a copy of the show from the BBC archives, but if you watch it, you'll notice that Stoney End is muted! .....So what I did was try and dub the muted clip with the song they actually danced to, not an easy task as you couldn't even make out when the song was starting.... I literally spent hours on it (no kidding!) until I felt the music was finally in sync with the dance moves....I had to adjust the speed of the audio, but unlike other clips, there was no "original soundtrack" which could have served as a template.
So what we have now is a truly unique clip. I have seen one other version of this routine on YouTube with new sound, it isn't bad, but towards the end, the dance moves are no longer in sync with the music. I assume whoever made it, did not adjust the speed of the audio"
So there you go, hard work and dedication really pays off, thanks again to the marvelous Vin for this...and to answer your question Vin, I haven't checked if I have this episode....
