LYRICS

Show me a sign of troubles in your heart

Spare me your lies and tell me that you're mine

And our bodies float on the river

To the oceans of demise

Made me a slave to the secrets of your silence

But you told me to stay

And you told me you're mine

And our bodies float on the river

To the oceans of demise

In light of all things to come, why do you despair?

Because when you have no one, no one would care

So don't care

And all things will come undone

There is nothing to share

I'll be waiting for no one

And no one is there to care

Can't see, can't feel

You run, I long

I wait, he comes

Takes you away

'Cause he can feel you (on the)

On the way to comfort you

In the embers of summer

All things must die

There's a passage of fire ahead

Fire on the other side

There comes a time when the river runs dry

Winter comes and we sacrifice

Our lives

If Alice In Chains and Yes had a baby, this would be it. What an excellent song. The solo at 1:50 is just perfect.

Supposedly Mikael had originally constructed this track to have a very, very death metal ending complete with growling vocals, but he ended up cutting that out. Holy shit would I like to hear that version. I hope one day Mikael shares it with us.

This IS why I LOVE these guy's! If Alice in chains an the allman brother's made a baby, it would sound like this.

The solo starting at 1:50 is just stunningly, perfectly, shivers-down-the-spine beautiful...

The last minute of this song is so intense I wish there were more of it, but it's really cool how it sneaks up on you after the rest of the song.I don't like this new direction as much as classic Opeth and I hope they bring back the death metal elements in the future, but there is a lot of unique and interesting material on this album and Heritage.

One of the best songs I've ever heard!

This feels like Tenacious D as played by Opeth. Probably because this takes a lot of influences from Southern rock, just like The D. But i fucking love this song, is by far my favorite on this album

Did Opeth get castrated?

Musicians change and mature throughout their lives and their music changes with them. This is what's happening to Michael Akerfeldt and his music. It's not selling out. Selling out would be to keep making death metal just to please old time fans.
