The video for this song matches perfectly with the words. A clear indication of the general mission of all human beings - open our hearts and minds to Love, and thus accepting ( a DECISION ) Jesus in our lives, the highest chain in our evolution towards God.

one of the lesser known Moody Blues songs but I think a great Mike Pinder lead song

This is the last song that Mike Pinder wrote before he quit the Moody Blues in 1978. It's clear to me by the personal lyrics that he was in a very different place, mentally, than the rest of the band. By this time, he had been in California for a few years, had started a family, and wanted to be with them, instead of on the road touring for months on end.I remember thinking at the time that this song was like a good-bye from Mike, but with hope for the future..."there's one thing I can do, play my Mellotron for you, try to blow away your city blues..." For many people, myself included, the Moodies became a different band after Pinder left and he (and his Mellotron) was sorely missed thereafter. But life moves on.Awesome HD release is simply amazing with good headphones. My special thanks goes out to whoever created the really nice video!

Nice song but that doesn't sound like Mike Pinder singing. Might be Ray Thomas.

we take light for granted -we crossed oceans guided by light that left a star 10,000 years ago - we take life for granted -we were guided by lives that left us years and years ago-we take God for granted -we are guided by a living presence that has never left us => "His Reach Exceeds My Grasp" - go outside - look up - say "Thank You"- it is that first "baby step" => "One Step Into The Light"

The only contribution of Mike Pinder for the Octave album, but for me it's the best track. I really miss the architect of the Moody Blues sound.

I've been listening to The Moody Blues for 30 years, I waited on Seventh Sojourn and Octave until the last few years ( there was a couple of songs I could get into), but I knew then that I would better understand these two albums later on in life, experience comes to mind. And this is the Moody Blues I can relate to now. Love these guys, been listening since The Other Side of Life.

Mike re-recorded this sometime in the 80's and added it as a bonus track to "The Promise" album. I have both versions in my Pinder/Thomas playlist. Thanks for uploading!

@spacepatrolman.I don't think there were hits as such .with this band.Songs were lifted off albums.as opposed to the reverse, which is the norm for a hit making band.John figured as a writer in a few of the'hit'songs, but Nights in White Satin,Voices in the Sky,and Never Comes the Day,extracts from albums were all written by Justin Hayward. My point is that Mike's presence,to me,effectively provided a catalyst for Justin and John with his deeper thinking, even if he didn't actually write the songs

spacepatrolman .

lets face it Justin and John wrote the hits

Mike Pinder was a serious loss to the Moody Blues.I love Justin, but I feel their direction changed to slightly more mainstream after his departure

@illuminatedEntity,a perfect video to a deep composition-song is the wrong word here-from Mike.He is the greatest loss to the Moody Blues, next to Justin, should he leave. Some consider the band pretentious, but how so,they just relay the truth about life but,on a deeper level

This song is pretty much ALL Mike Pinder and his Mellotron, as there is very little accompanyment by the other Moodies on this MASTERPIECE OF THE HEART !!!!! We miss you, Mike !!!!!
