I believe it is indeed Japanese. The main song they used samples from Japanese commercials on was 'Crush' on the album of the same name.

I remember reading at the time it was released that McClusky said they sampled various audio from around the world (hence the 'Southern' track) and he also mentioned sampling "Japanese washing machine commercials" I've always wondered if this is the track he's referring to as sampling the Japanese. Does anyone know what the weird breathy foreign language at the start of this song is?

Easily my favourite OMD song, in spite of the fact that they have so many brilliant songs. I remember playing it over and over again in the '80s until the casette died from overuse!

I remember living in american fork utah moved there from south america to live with my lover and being so home sick I wanted to live in a big city ...... the school bus radio played we love you by this guys OMD and then met a guy who liked this type of music and borrowed the tape from him and discovered this amazing song feeling so lonely I opened the curtains in my bedroom and could see the lake and the mountains with snow on top while playing this song those were amazing times .........!

I have the CD of this somewhere... I cant seem to find it. It's only when you're trying to find it too. Interesting thing, my mom was watching me play Majora's mask on the n64 a long time ago and said the music sounded a lot like OMD. That's how I was introduced to it.
