I love this song. I love it even more now that someone explained to me it refers to New York City. It's still a geographical mystery to me, but at least I'm not trying to figure out how Sheff can refer to Portland as "unreal city." (Portland's a great city, but it's pretty real.) So... if this was based on an actual island, it wouldn't necessarily be in Casco Bay, which means I'll never figure out which island it was. Peaks Island theory-- shot. Suspension of disbelief-- shaken. Still love.
