Ohio Express - Mercy 1969

I love you mercy, mercy.

Oh, you know, you're such a beautiful thing.

You're laying kisses on me girl

All you know all the pleasure it brings,

Ah, ah, ah, ah.

You're spending all my money,

And you're making me crawl up the wall.

Oh Mercy, mercy

You're doing me without any mercy at all,

And I'm calling you:

Have mercy, mercy have mercy on me.

Have mercy, mercy, mercy on me.

Have mercy, mercy have mercy on me.

Have mercy, mercy, mercy on me.

A man's supposed to be stronger

And is used to getting his way, ah,

But mercy girl you got my number,

And I'll do any thing that you say.

But stop playing with me.

Have mercy, mercy have mercy on me.

Have mercy, mercy, mercy on me.

Have mercy, mercy have mercy on me.

Have mercy, mercy, mercy on me.

(Instrumental)

Have mercy, mercy have mercy on me.

Have mercy, mercy, mercy on me.

Have mercy, mercy have mercy on me.

Have mercy, mercy, mercy on me.

I bet the Ramones would have done a great job on this.

Cool song! I had this LP. Good video, except I wish they didn't have to keep flashing the cheesy special effects on the screen. That seemed to be very popular on music videos at the time.

I bet Beat Club never realised that the slogan was a breach of London Transports copyright.

WOW! Between 1968 when they did the song "Yummy, ummy, Yummy" and only a year later in 1969 when they did this song "Mercy", they sure changed their look an awful lot. More like today's "scrungy" look in this one. wish that they didn't keep doing the flashing "bricks' background thing, it makes it where you can't see anything very well.

What happen with todays music??? Speaking of Rock, to me: the 50s are cool... the 60s are fantastic... the 70s are the "peak"... the 80s are dry... the 90s (and beyond) are dead!

When I first heard this song, in the late 70's, I was looking at photos of the British band 'Japan', in a music magazine, dyed hair and make-up and all - So I've always imagined the singer to look like David Sylvian, hahaha! :))

It was! There's a 'music only' version on here with a picture of the original disc - Looking exactly like the one I used to own :)

Wow, these guys were playing GREY Paisley Telecaster guitars!! ;)) Anyway, it's been 35 years since I'd first heard this number - Still loving it today :) (By the way, the B-Side 'Roll It Up' isn't bad, either!)

Believe it or not this later version of "The Ohio Express" is actually 10CC before they hit it big with songs like "The Wall Street Shuffle", "I'm not in love", etc.

Thanks for the message--I often wonder if I would like the music that you have today if I were your age.
