She was one of the greatest until the end.One comment noted:"Odetta in later years I think was "past her prime"-but she was awesome in the 60's and 70's." _Not correct-she come forward with that strong spiirit that was always her and in her late 70's just prior to her passing received Grammy nominations in (I believe successive years) for 2 different genres-Folk and Blues. Somewhat outstanding-

Makes me think of my dear departed mama. She taught me about Odetta when I was a kid in the 1960's. Mom would cook in the kitchen while we played her albums on the turntable. We'd just sing and sing!! I finally had the opportunity to see her live at a local folk festivaI.. My parents drove hundreds of miles to get here to see her. My mother burst into tears when she began to sing.. It was beautiful. A great memory. I have many vinyl Odetta albums. I cherish them and play them often.

The only problems with this great (and somewhat forgotten) anti-war song is that it is damned hard to to sing/play well and in USA the wars have piled up so fast in the last 40 years you would need to keep adding verses to already long song. Odetta in later years I think was "past her prime"-but she was awesome in the 60's and 70's.
