Peter is an exceptional artist and in my opinion this is one of the sadest popular songs ever.

@trzcinarowice He's probably not the only artist, who upon having a massive hit record follows up in a similar style. I have put an audio documentary on my Peter Skellern Facebook site in which he mentions this. His albums "Hard Times" onwards follow completely different styles."Hold On To Love" was even covered by a soul artist.

@ouratney1 - it's from the vinyl LP "A String of Pearls" released on Mercury in 1982. As far as I know it's not made it to CD and I've not seen any tracks from it on a CD compilation. I've put a couple of the tracks from the LP on here.

@MrRogersv - Hi, Always wondered what happened to Peter Skellern, He recorded some beautiful music and its only through youtube im only discovering a lot of them now. Always loved that song Ill String Along With You, but cant find it anywhere, youtube,itunes,etc. Any Ideas?

@juliangernos Still magic is available on quite a number of compilations plus the straight release of the "Still Magic" album on CD. There are two versions - the original Decca recording and the re-recording for the aforementioned LP (in which he also re-recorded "Too Much I'm In Love). I've tried to concentrate on the songs that are not readily available on CD

This is a superb song. I don't think we realised at the time just how good he was. Skellern is in some ways a throwback to the Golden era (1925-1950) of popular songwriting. In my opinion he is right up there in the pantheon with Cole Porter and Irwin Berlin et al. Thanks for the beautiful photo sequences on this and all the other songs. I am waiting for you to do Still Magic - can't find it anywhere !
