I hosted a music and news show on a PBS station on Long Island in the '80s. When I played selectons from this album, the phone line lit up. Skellern's arrangements here are brilliant, especially for this song and "I'll String Along with You." Images of Busby Berkeley choreographed syncopated bathing beauties and lithe dancers accompanued by a heavenly choir. Just brilliant stuff.

I have the CD,by Ariola/BMG,No.260 342,produced in 1982.There must be more out there somewhere-Terry Wogan used to play a track from it-'About A Quarter to nine'on his radio breakfast show, in the early 80s,at,well,about a quarter to nine.

yes this album is available on cd & so is still magic and astaire as far as I know, but they will cost a pretty penny!

Peter Skellern is so charming in this album. I used to have a tape of it, but can't find a CD to purchase online or otherwise. Has it only been distributed in vinyl and tape formats?

Yes, there are many versions of I'll String Along With You, but none of them compare with Peter Skellern and that fabulous choir that I heard once about 25-30 years ago on the radio. I never forgot it. Sadly, the record was never made available here. Thank you for replying and giving me some hope of hearing it again. All the very best to you.

that song is already pretty well covered on YT - there's Dick and Ginger, Diana Kraal, Al Bowlly, Doris Day, Jo Stafford, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong, Barbara Dickson, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Vee, Cliff Richard and Jack Payne, at least!! so we'll see haha
