this version just is not right - it does not hit the right spot, such baroque music has to be accompanied with baroque instruments and not " modern " piano...

The style is so wrong. But Caballe is so beautiful and well-meaning that one loves her anyway. The voice has such beauty and control, but it is not the last word in Baroque scholarship, that's for sure.

I First heard this aria on Charlotte Jaconelli(s) new album(Jonathan and Charlotte,BGT runners up,after the dog act),noticed it was the only Italian aria on her album,so decided to investigate further. IMO,a Mezzo Soprano is perfect for this aria,and Caballes version is the finest I have found so far......I was looking for Sutherlands version,but I have not found it yet.....but Caballes version is the finest I have heard so far-thank you operalover9001 :-)
