I don't own anything.

Metric's cover of Death From Above 1979's "Black History Month" from their Spotify Covers EP.

LYRICS:

Can you remember a time when this city was

A great place for architects and dilettantes

A nice place for midwives and crossing guards

And on, and on...

Hold on, hold on, children

Your mother and father are leaving

Hold on, hold on, children

Your mother and father are leaving, leaving

Do you remember a time when this pool was

A great place for waterwings and cannonballs

A nice place for astrologists and blow up dolls

And on, and on, and on, and on...

Hold on, hold on, children

Your mother and father are leaving

Hold on, hold on, children

Your best friend's parents are leaving, leaving

Hold on, hold on, children

Your mother and father are leaving

Hold on, hold on, children

Your best friend's parents are leaving, leaving

Interesting with the piano over it. I made an acoustic cover of it that has a similar feel

meh. this song is too high energy for a lower, more calm approach to it.

is it just me but Canada is producing a shit load more good artists nowadays than the americans processed solo untalented artists... the Canadian culture and its arts are thriving nowadays, it makes me proud. like this canadian band covering a song by another canadian band, even scott pilgrim, my favourite comics ever... this shows we have a lot more to offer that just maple syrup :P

i'm so mesmerized by this cover. it's so haunting. it reminds me of emily haines solo work. it would be pretty fucking cool to hear metric perform it like death from above. they could totally pull that off too if you ask me.

See I like Metric, and love DFA1979. I can admit this is an amazing cover, maybe not better than the original, but still amazing.
