To think Mark is also a very accomplished violinist. He performed the violin solo for Mel Gibson's movie "The Patriot". It is not fair to be the gifted!!!!

Mark O'Connor is the most underrated flat picker/ guitarist of the last 100 years. easily, the best player of his generation

Mark O'Connor....the greatest guitar player to come out of Mountlake Terrace High School...My High school memories of you see you sitting outside the band/choir room with a big hat, long hair and your acoustic guitar. Cheers!

Great to hear Mark O'Connor on the guitar. We nearly always hear him on the fiddle these days but one shouldn't forget what a fantastic guitarist he is. As for Chet Atkins, he is simply a legend. Wish he was still around.

Word was out back in the 80's, if it has strings, Mark O'Connor can play the tar out of it.

@TenTonHorse I love Chet but you're easily fooled. It isn't as difficult as what you're ears think it is.

@chevycarl He won the National Flatpicking Championship at the age of 18. I realize you said "he wasn't a slouch" but the word "slouch" shouldn't even be uttered in a description of him. He put out a solo guitar album in the 70's with Tony Rice and made Tony, frankly and honestly, look like a beginner....when he was only 18 and when Rice was considered the best flatpicker in the world at the time. Mark has a habit of making the best look second rate.
