Rudy Valley and his orchestra had a hilarious version of this song also, released on Bluebird in the 30's. You can find it here on YouTube. Vallee spent a year in London playing clarinet and saxophone in hotel bands (he was discouraged from singing), and his accent is spot on.

It's the birthday of English actor and playwright Noel Coward (1899-1973). His plays, like "Blithe Spirit," are very witty, as is his best-known song, "Mad Dogs and Englishmen."MAD DOGS & ENGLISHMEN - Noel Coward with Ray Noble & His Orchestra
