I also prefer European power metal to the American variety, for exactly the same reason that QuertyTSecond mentioned, but to say 'US Metal SUCKS' is both arrogant and narrow-minded. American metal has a different aesthetic from European metal, but that doesn't mean it's worse. ... now excuse me while I go back to listening to European power metal.11 years ago

I agree that most people give up on American metal too easily, but if you're not wanting to spend the time digging through the layers of mainstream garbage, the European scene is probably much more to your liking, given bands like Nightwish dominate the metal scene there.11 years ago
