I think this is quite close to Nic Jones's arrangement of Lord Franklin or Lady Franklin's Lament

Thanks very much. I agree that at times people tend to rush songs as if they're trying to get to end as soon as possible - maybe this was because the songs had to fit onto a disk with seveal others or people felt cheated if there weren't enough tracks. YT gives you the time to take things slowly and if people get bored there's always somewhere esle to go ;-)

It's a song that begs to be played slowly and sung at a lower pitch. You've nailed it.

Don't know why I have not seen this before. Fabulous stuff. I have been trying to learn it from John Renbourn's version (in Standard tuning) but I think I will try this now. Thanks so much! This has to be one of my favourite trad tunes, even more so as it is about such a well publicized tragedy at sea with so many lives lost.

Thanks very much. I tend to slow songs and tune down quite a lot. It's partly a matter of taste and partly skill. I've never really been happy with any fast instrumentals that I've tried. I like to take things slowly and try to keep control of the sound. This doesn't always work or stop me from making mistakes however :o))

You sound like you have all the time in the world to sing this song and you pull listeners into this timeout with delicate care and beautiful delivery. Its a perfect redition that conveys the longing so peacefully. I have an attempt on my channel but would've had 2nd thoughts about posting if I'd seen this. More Jansch too!
