He actually wrote this for Ray Charles, but Ray never sang it. Stan Szelest on keyboards, from Stan and the Ravens - Buffalo NY. Anyone from Buffalo will remember Stan. Great group. Saw Lonnie many times live in Buffalo myself. Always the best! Never missed him when he came around. Its a shame can't seem to find this type of live music in clubs anymore. I miss it!

I met Dickey Betts, and Lonnie one time back in the early 70's. Dickey was playing with Joke and the Joker's. I had met them through some family members on my wife's side of the family. At that time I had no idea! who I was Introduced to.

he tuned to Fb..this is not a well-known secret. He also used an unusual amplifier by Kenmore that was only made for about 6 months called a soke'n'poke.

Me either whiny, the only thing that comes to mind is just maybe, maybe was too slow for folks. Otherwise, lyrics, music and to my mind, tempo, was just right, Plenty of soul and solos, both guitar and voice, were right on. Maybe you, Lonnie and I knew something.

Amen. Never figured out why this one never went to the top.

can someone else validate that Lonnie tuned his guitar to "D" and everyone else in the band played in regular tuning?

Beautiful song. I bought many years ago the Strike Like Lightning CD just because of this song. The rest of the CD is good, but this song is superb.

This is brilliant song, and i'm sure Stevie ray Vaughan is involved too. Stan Szlest on keys, and the brilliant Gene Lawson on drums. Famntastic. Check out Oreo Cookie Blues Mikey xx
