This was the song that got me into The Jam, must have been September 1980. My older brother played start on his record player, then flipped it over... I have liked Paul Weller all my life, just got back the other week from seeing him at Webster Hall in NYC. The Americans need to appreciate him more!

Liza Radley went with her friends, "Eleanor Rigby", "Ruby Tuesday", "Carrie Ann","Polly", "Monica", "Wicked Annabella", and "Little Miss Queen of Darkness" to go "See Emily Play". The Ray Davies influence here is remarkable.

The Jam never played here to the best of my knowledge and I been all over it!. Saw Elvis Costello, The Clash, Gang of Four and many others back in the late 70's early eighties. Gang of Four had Tipitina's packed to the gills and people all around the perimeter of the building( but it was a small venue).

i visited new orleans when i traveled round the US in 1988 great place but i can`t see the jam being popular in the southern states .they actually canceled gigs some in that area when `going underground` got to no.1 over here,

I used to crank up the Jam back then when I was in college in New Orleans, no one else knew who they were except for a couple of guys at the record shop

Loved this song. I remember it being the b-side of Start! uk single? Even now, Weller's b-sides are as great as the A-sides! Back then, The Jam singles were always worth flipping over. We were never short changed by The Jam.

Liza Radley , Eleanor Rigby & Ruby Tuesday should get together for a picnic and watch Emily Play.
