It made me angry when I read what happened to Willie John at his trial and then his sentencing. Some people just get crapped on from the day they are born. He was a man who should have been released to freedom who was instead locked up for years and years and years and then died under very, very disturbing, uncertain circumstances. No one even knows how he died or the cause of his death.

Our little dream castle with every dream gone Is lonely and silent the shades are all drawn And my heart is heavy as I gaze upon a cottage for sale

It's very sad to hear crimes of the heart such as this tune.

@xunclexx the sadest and most beautiful. send this song to every divorcing couple and half would get back together. unfortunately, the other half would kill themselves

Fever by Susan Whitehall and Willie Johns sons have hit the Bookstores it is a damn good read that speaks to the influences this virtuoso impacted on other artist...it is not fluffy but based on solid facts...and a whole lot of legacy,,,and love of the untenable talent of this artist.....buy buy buy...

What year is this from? It's interesting that he sings it in the key of "F" [instead of the usual "C"],A decision that surely hit home, big time. I can't remember hearing a vibrato as good as that before [not from a man anyway]. I gotta' get that 45,so I can blast it thru my pair of 1958 Mcintosh 'MC 30' big blocks, into the four 8'' speakers,to ensure the finest in High fidelty listening pleasure !...and if the useless neighbors don't like it,.. they can get another butcher to fix thier shit.

Fantastic Vinyl Sound !! Even through this crappy computer, you can still feel the high speed juke box sound. Many years ago,I heard the James Brown version of this song,on the radio, which is what brought me here. WHAT A FIND !! So we now know where James [also on King records] has learned how to bend his notes. This record is a timeeless classic ,for many reasons ..The smart lyrics, The old time arangement, mixed with the gigantic rythm and blues voice.WOW Can someone please post the J B version

This is probably the best version of this tune, at least among the ones I've heard.
