Guitar tabs for the live version of A Place for My Head can be downloaded here: http://lplive.net/astat/Guitar_tabs/Live/Hybrid_Theory_Live/

I decided to redo this and use my Boss GT-8 board for it. I'm using one of the preset effects patches called "Super Clean" here, I just added delay to it (I switch the delay off for the regular APFMH intro near the end). I'm also doing volume swells with the volume pedal to blend the notes together, because the delay effect keeps going when the volume is turned down (I'm pretty sure Brad does the same thing when he plays this live). Also, I used my Ibanez for this despite it being in Eb tuning (I normally use my Guild for that tuning), because I like its clean tone better, plus I didn't need the low Eb string just to play the intro anyway.

Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb tuning. This is the little guitar solo/intro to A Place for My Head that Brad did live at quite a few shows in 2008. He does a bunch of tremolo-picked stuff with a ton of delay and reverb. Nothing really complicated, but it sounds cool. The version I'm playing here is essentially the same as the one from the Sacramento show, but Brad played it differently every time.

The song's in the key of C# minor and doesn't really stray from that scale. The A# note in the F# chord totally clashes with that.

@Erockk2121 I think the way I did the tab was I set a click track at roughly the same tempo as APFMH and tried to sync it up with one of the recordings of Brad playing the intro as best as I could, then tabbed it based on the duration of each note. Just as a ballpark, I'd say I probably pick most of the notes no fewer than a dozen times. But that's part of the unique aspect of this intro, it's one of the few moments in an LP show that isn't set to a click, so it's really open to interpretation.

@astatslpvids I'm a bit of novice when it comes to music, putting it modestly, but when you tremolo pick the notes on your tab, how many picks does each note represent? If you could ball park it...

@Erockk2121 That was the intent at least. I might have played a note or two different in the video.

Is this the same version that you posted in your live tab?

@LPHJHGuitar Yeah, I've seen some tuners that do stuff like that, I'm not sure why. When you're reading a note that isn't relative to anything else, the flat/sharp symbols are interchangeable. The only time you're supposed to use one vs. the other is in a music score, assuming sharps/flats aren't otherwise covered by the key signature at the beginning, if the notes are descending you use the flat symbol, if they're ascending you use the sharp symbol.

You rocked with these effects. Pity, Lp doesn't use effects like that more often in their songs. I like Flanger and Tremolo added with Sweep echo

PRO TIP: When you hit "Post Comment," pay attention to what it says, and you'll see the "Comment Submitted for Approval" message and know that you have to wait for me to approve it before it'll show up. It's a lot better than submitting the same comment 7 times and leaving me 6 more to delete, assuming I even decide to approve your first one...consider yourself lucky that I'm in a good mood today.

I honestly have no clue, there really isn't a set tempo to it at all, the click track on the live version of APFMH doesn't even kick in until the first verse (you can hear them slow down a lot in the intro when Rob starts playing), so Brad's completely left to his own devices on the solo part at the beginning.

This may be a dumb question so don't chew me out for asking lol. Could you guesstimate or possibly know how many strums each note gets on your tab? I know they're all tremolo picked but I honestly don't know how much the bpm goes up so I was wondering if you could help me out. Thanks
