Lindsey was hosting a cover contest to help other youtubers gain exposure so I thought I'd try on her original "dubstep violin" song "Crystalize." I only worked on this for 2 or 3 days so it wasn't as great as it could have been, also considering I've only been playing violin for 5 weeks. Between playing viola in a professional orchestra and all the ensembles I'm in at school, I just didn't have much time left to work on this. I purchased the sheet music on her site a couple days ago and got to work. It came with a backing track but other than that, everything you hear being played is 100% me - I didn't play over the original track. I started out by learning the violin part and first recorded that. Then I figured out the chords throughout the song so that I would have something to work off of on guitar and the harmony lines on viola. The harmonies were just improvised from the chord symbols I had written out earlier but turned out nicely! I added in guitar last to fill in what spots I thought it would sound better than my viola although at a couple points I did have all three instruments tracking at once. This has been the biggest collective project that I have worked on to date and I do hope that you enjoy it.

I play a Fegley commissioned series viola that was hand-made by the amazing James Fegley just before he passed away. My violin was purchased a month ago from the same shop although it has been passed around and it shows. It's estimated to be over 250 years old. My guitar is a PRS McCarty Standard which I playing into a Fender "Blues Deluxe Reissue" with a "Fulltone OCD" distortion pedal. I record with an Audio-Technica AT2020 condsenser microphone into Garage Band and edit with iMovie.

That was amazing, and I loved how you mixed the violin and guitar in it. I wish I heard more viola, but that may just be me, seeing as I play viola:) but it was incredible!

No!, of course not, not even close! What, do you think that listening to Lindsey is somewhat close to mainstream? I may actually say she is slighty underrated, I mean she is HUGE on youtube, but in real life, she isn't that famous. She is very unique, don't let your sight fool you, not because you see a pretty girl playing violin doesn't mean she is untalented (or talented). I mean, she's been playing for over 20 years and isn't the best violinist ever, but what she does is quite innovative.

Well, Mr. Grammar Nazi, according to my investigations the letter right after the "n" is indeed a capital "i", she obviously pressed the shift button with her pinky without noticing. And she practically commented on every single cover of the contest, so she has my forgiveness. ...Also she is Lindsey Stirling, so fuck you ;D
