It truly is some of the best production I've ever heard - and it did wonders when applied to R.E.M. as well!

I absolutely love this song! My dad told me about this band (he listened to it when he was my age) and I love all of their songs

I listened to Let's Active back in the day and saw them perform once or twice. A friend of mine used to argue that Cypress was a superior album to REM's Murmur. Having listened to Cypress again after 20+ years I am convinced I was right all along. No one remembers Let's Active because Mitch Easter's song writing lacked something essential. The killer hooks that flowed organically within the structure of any given REM song seem awkward and forced in the Cypress tracks, including this one which is actually one of Easter's better efforts from the period. Easter produced the earliest REM recordings, whatever that actually entails, but laid side by side, it is a case of Salieri meets Mozart. Sorry Mitch. And that hair?? Good God, son.

More of the music from my college days......This is Let's Active -- led by Mitch Easter who, with Don Dixon, produced REM's *Murmur.* They're playing here at Drive In Studios -- the coverted garage at Mitch's parents' house -- a music mecca for "college rock" in the 80s.
