Thanks. This was informative. My playing style is eating away at my nails more and more. Never had this problem when I was younger. I was wondering what to do about it. This shows me something can be done that goes around just waiting for your nail to grow out or the impossible; for your nails to be stronger. I'm a female and have never had my nails done before. How ironic that I'm learning from a man!

Love...love James Taylor. The slight smirk when he says, "It will get you dizzy if you smell it too much" is priceless.

Next time you are in Charleseton SC mr. taylor I would be happy to do your nails for you. I am a very experienced nail tech (30 years) and I would love to do so in exchange for a guitar lesson. I play the fiddle and would love to play guitar. How about it? :) Also, by layering the fiberglass with acrylic you get an unbeatable bond that would last three weeks.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world's first bionic man. James Taylor will be that man. Better than he was before. Better...stronger...faster.

Many people have asked about the nails on James's picking hand, so we thought you might enjoy another look at this video he made a while back, showing how he reinforces them for playing.

going to nail spa is by far the most efficient and strongest strategy unless you have 3 hands. you`ll save your self a ton of disappointment and aggravation. try to find someone who can speak decent english , though. . 15 - 20 bucks for a month and a half`s worth of indestructible nails is worth it.

There was a nail extension system I used back in the eighties (oh yes), that comprised some 'fillets' that one slid under the nail. These shiny card crescents created a platform for what I'm guessing was a two pack polyester resin/ground glass fibre mix. You painted the stuff on a nail and over the card former to create longer nails. Then you could shape it. It worked really well and I still have my fingers.

I'm sure someone asked these:What shapes do you file the nails to? Why not use gels instead of fiberglass?

I don't think I could do this. I'd be too worried about potentially damaging my nails. James, you're a gusty man.

Well..at Montana State University I studied under Christopher Parkening...he suggested have a nail kit like Sally Hassen paint on nails. But, we were also encouraged to try to reinforce our own nails by eating Knox gelatin ( it's flavorless unless you add something to it ). And always have a diamond nail file around to shape the nail. I also recall carrying around a fine grade sanding paper to polish off the nail. THANK YOU JAMES TAYLOR !

Just look up fiberglass wrap for nails online. There are kits that contain everything you need. Beauty supply stores carry everything including replacement items like the mesh. It also comes pre-cut to general size for each finger.
