Neil Sedaka wrote "Magic Colors" for Lesley Gore, and a second song that Lesley recorded composed by Neil (and his long-time collaborator, Howard Greenfield) is the gorgeous "Summer Symphony" - which in its message is somewhat similar to "California Nights". This song was part of Lesley's penultimate recording session for Mercury, which took place on May 2, 1969 in New York (Allegro Sound Studios), and was produced, arranged and conducted by Paul Leka.

So many of Lesley's later efforts either went largely unheard or ignored by the radio programmers and the public - nevertheless, the beauty, production values and excellence of these recordings remained absolutely first rate. With Lesley's passing, we can revisit, discover - or rediscover these lost gems in Lesley Gore's discography. A beautiful, incandescent and immensely talented songstress who will never be forgotten.

Beautiful tune from the one and only songwriting team of Sedaka and Greenfield. Nice to hear the lovely Ms. Gore singing the tune. Thanks for posting this one. Never heard this one before its new to me.

Great. Pity she wasn't the superstar she deserved to be.

Beautifully Recorded. But,this was so "MOR" . I remember Jack Gold had a very minor chart of this. One MOR station played Lesley's version here for a few weeks, then quit. I played it in later years at an MOR (Middle of the Road) station). I think they renamed these stations "Adult Contemp". This is when music was changing so drastically..and even though Lesley was still trying to reinvent herself..the public still yearned for that "old" Lesley. Which ,because of changes in the industry and music wise...would never return. But,her Mercury material is still the best.
