my dad was serving in Korea in the Royal Canadian ARMY when Leroy was there with the americans, and my dad was at the same area as Leroy, dad said the entire canadian 3rd regiment knows the words to this song, as Leroy was writing it while he was in his tent everyone could hear him, he wrote the song, but it took him weeks to get the lyrics straight, so they were always having to help him when he would forget the next line. Dad said he brought a ray of sunshine to the worst place he knows.
