Love Calls You by Your Name is one of my favorites as well... hard to believe anyone would think it's the "least listenable", but I guess to each his own. I like all of his stuff, but I would think that if there were any songs of his that were not as good as the rest it would be on "Death of a Ladies Man."

The first time I'd heard DRR was in 2000, my wife and I had split after 20 years, so I did what every newly separated man does; Moved to Florida where chicks will fall on your balding head like cocoanuts. Then the loneliness comes in like London fog. My friend who I was staying with thought it'd be a good thing for me to hear this song. " That's a tough one to remember and it makes you clench your fist..." Song nearly did me in. Val, Thanks for taking this difficult man back. No Words.

I am so happy that I found this one, thanks to "Listen and weep: 10 really sad songs" by Toronto Star's reporter Nancy J. White.

I hope you enjoy the Judy Collins recording which I just uploaded yesterday.

I wish someone would post Judy Collins' recording of this song from her "In My Life" album. Her performance is darker and more expressive. She has a great affinity for Leonard Cohen songs, but not so much for Dylan compared to Joan Baez.

"On the back of every magazine there are those coupons you can send. Why don't you join the Rosicrucians? They will give you back your hope." -Hey,I received a google ad today from The Rosicrucians, still advertising! QUOTE:" The Rosicrucians:Discover how extraordinary you really are!" When Cohen wrote this song,Rosicrucian ads were prominent in mags&promised psychic powers&spiritual development:e.g. "Develop your intuition";"Peace of Mind";"Truths that have been denied struggling humanity"...
