A brilliant take on one of the oldest and best stories known to Mankind. But from Cohen we expect no less!

I know this comment is 3 years old but, really, how dare you? Would you say the same if a recovering alcoholic shared the way the reference to the broken wine bottle had meaning to him, would you call him histrionic? I'm a survivor and I refuse to let it feel like a secret anymore. Secrets often mask shame.

Really? I'm in Toronto but from Montreal and I've never come across anyone who doesn't - shame on them.....he's another reason - there are many but he's right up there - to be proud to be a Canadian.

@icebytes Yes! Roy's version is fairly faithful to this. Both are amazing. Great emotion and guitar work in both.

It's funny, Cohen has always been more popular in Poland than his native Canada... Seriously! There are people here who never heard of thim.

a great friend of mine passed away five years ago. we used to have a few beers listening to music and comparing mythologies. when i saw cohen last year the tears i cried were for him. story of isaac was not played but no matter. I once read that Cohen was "an unlikely survivor". Maybe Isaac could be descibed just so. My buddy once said empty seats are like unforgotten friends. I often think of that especially hearing this, his favorite Cohen song. May bluebirds sing him to sleep
