Larry Hoppen Tribute, RIP - Time Passes On video free download

This video collage was lovingly put together by Orleans' alumnus drummer (and all around good guy) Charlie Shew, to whom we are extremely grateful. Set to the hauntingly beautiful "Time Passes On", written by John and Johanna Hall and recorded for Orleans' "Let There Be Music" album of 1975, it depicts many of the happier moments in this gifted musician's life.

Larry was well-loved and highly-respected as a great musician --- multi-instrumentalist player, singer, songwriter, band leader, producer --- but also as a brother, father and friend. He was also a great humanitarian activist with a big heart.

Larry left us suddenly on July 24th, 2012. We who are left behind miss him. Although we know life is eternal and he has merely changed venues, we mourn the loss to this earthly plane. We grieve. We survive the shock. We honor his memory by keeping on keeping on.

With the return to the fold of co-founder John Hall, re-joining co-founder Lance Hoppen and mainstays Lane Hoppen, Charlie Morgan and Dennis "Fly" Amero, Orleans has committed itself to (at least) finish the 2012 calendar of scheduled performances. What happens after that is an open question.

If you wish to honor Larry's memory, you may do so by making a donation to your local food bank in his name, as feeding the hungry was one of his passions. He would like that very much.

What a beautiful tribute! Larry was one of the most soulful and exciting vocalists of the era, and will be missed. His voice, and Orleans, were for me a huge part of living through the 70s. There are so many songs recorded by Larry and Orleans that touch me to this day, and will continue to part of my best memories of the time. Well done, Larry, and please know how much you mattered

This was a moving tribute to Larry. I want to wish my condolences to the Hoppen family and his band mates in Orleans. I love to listen to "Dance With Me," "Still the One," and "Love Takes Time" regularly on Youtube. I was a young boy when these songs came out and loved them then as I do now. His musical talent and that voice was so special. A very nice job with the pictures in this video.

I had not heard of Larry's passing. I produced concerts in college and worked with Orleans twice at Plymouth State. Amazing shows, they were a kick ass band live. Orleans has been part of the soundtrack of my life since the 70's. My prayers go out to Larry's family and friends. I am sorry for your loss.

This news is so sad and shocking. Larry uplifted the lives of so many who loved him as a musician and as a man. I appreciate OrleansOnline, and hope to continue to share the best of your memories, time and energy, although it will never be the same. A good man is gone, but we can try to emulate his wonderful energy in our own lives. Thank YouTube for collecting and preserving so much history on video. Thank Orleans members and their families, and mostly thank you Larry.

Back in 1992 this was one of the songs I put in a tribute video of my dad who passed away after a 27 month battle with cancer. A great song and great photos in honor of Larry. Proves he was so much more than just a artist/musiciansongwriter. Larry, you no doubt left your imprint in me and my life and i'm sure millions of other lives.
