This single-camera video was shot by long-time friend and fan, Michael Furlong, at the North Shore Music Theater in Beverly, MA, on August 31st, 2012. It was just the 3rd show we had done since Larry's untimely death on July 24th and the wound was still pretty raw for all of us. JC and Tunes were added to the band as "special guests" ... and, as usual, they brought their A-game to the show.
The history of Orleans with these guys as the Beaver Brown Band goes all the way back to the 70s, when we did many co-billed college and club shows together, and extends all the way to the present. In recent years, we've done many multi-singer shows together billed under various names, such as the Spectra All-Stars, etc. Their connection to and love of Larry is genuine in every respect.
During Tender Years, Tunes called us all to order to witness and participate in this most heartfelt (and heart-wrenching) tribute to his dear, departed friend. The circular in-the-round stage serendipitously revolves in just the right timing for Mike Furlong to capture the mood and the action, right down to the real tears flowing at the end, full of hugs on stage and a Standing O from the audience.
The full band includes John Hall and Dennis "Fly" Amero on guitars, Lane Hoppen on keys, Lance Hoppen on bass, Charlie Morgan on drums, with Joe Bouchard (Blue Oyster Cult) on 12-string acoustic guitar and former Orleans drummer Charlie Shew on percussion.
Thank you JC and thank you SO much, Tunes.
