For some reason, +Rick Wayne 's fiction comes to mind when I hear this. Perhaps by contraries. #brainradio

Kerry Livgren wrote this, and I definitely feel that with the power chords and overall hard-rock style he was pissed off when he wrote this. For someone who wrote The Pinnacle, it's no surprise that he wouldn't be happy with Kansas' new direction in pop-rock. Kind of like how KISS started their endeavors into disco-rock and pop-rock with Dynasty and Unmasked after building their careers straight hard rock and heavy metal for four years straight.

funny the more things change the more they stay the same- this song along with other kansas songs fits just as well today as it did when it came it out ,perhaps even more so

Rush had them blown away no matter what! I love Kansas, but they were no Rush or even close to it.

Great song! I love how Livgren puts a 1m 25s decidedly non-mainstream break into the middle of a really good power-pop song as a finger in the eye to record execs demanding formulaic pop songs.

Horrible! It's like Pat Benetar joined Kansas. When Kansas become like this, Rush was taking over becoming the great band!

Monolith is not downhill. Stop buying into the All Music garbage that actually says Drastic Measures is a better album than Monolith.

I love how Kerry Livgren used a power pop song to complain about how the music industry was driving Kansas toward a power pop direction. "It's so predictable and everybody judges by the numbers that you're selling. Just crank 'em out on the assembly line and chart 'em higher (higher, higher). Just keep it simple boys it's gonna be alright as long as you're inside the Mainstream."

Hey, douchebag - thanks for your input. All of us Kansas fans appreciate your wonderful input. Go back and listen to shit like Journey or Europe. Fag.

Kansas's music officially sucked after Vinyl Confessions. It definitely went downhill at Monolith, but there were some good, Kansas-y tracks from Monolith to Vinyl Confessions, like On the Other Side, No One Together, and Windows. This album has nothing that even sounds close to Kansas. It's hard to believe that Kerry Livgren went from composing something like "Song For America" to.... this

I think "Mysteries and Mayhem" off of Masque is a lot closer to metal than this by miles. Still, this is probably the best song off of Drastic Measures.

I hated the change in vocalists and the loss of Robbie's violin and vocals, but this song was a killer tune!

@vanhouten64 I cracked up when I read your comment. Same thing for me here. Cruising around the southwest desert of El Paso, Texas in my '71 Plymouth cranking Drastic Measures. Brings back good high school memories. I got hooked on this tune from the get go when I first heard the opening guitar riff and it stills sounds tough today. Have a good one-

This song sorta kicks ass if you ask me. I used to drive around when I was a teenager with this song turned up to about 11.
