An unofficial music video I made for "Cathedrals" by Jump Little Children.

Still learning my way around making videos. Check out my other ones and let me know what you think by leaving comments. Thanks for watching!

Lyrics:

In the shadows of tall buildings

Of fallen angels on the ceilings

Oily feathers in bronze and concrete

Faded colors, pieces left incomplete

The line moves slowly past the electric fence

Across the borders between continents

In the cathedrals of New York and Rome

There is a feeling that you should just go home

And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is

In the shadows of tall buildings

The architecture is slowly peeling

Marble statues and glass dividers

Someone is watching all of the outsiders

The line moves slowly through the numbered gate

Past the mosaic of the head of state

In the cathedrals of New York and Rome

There is a feeling that you should just go home

And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is

In the shadows of tall buildings

Of open arches endlessly kneeling

Sonic landscapes echoing vistas

Someone is listening from a safe distance

The line moves slowly into a fading light

A final moment in the dead of night

In the cathedrals of New York and Rome

There is a feeling that you should just go home

And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is

I liked this song more before I watched this video. This is not at all what I connected it with. I actually do not see any of the lyrics push in this direction at all. The video should be titled something about homelessness ft. Jump Little Children...

I love this song. My nephew played it at my mom's funeral two weeks ago. It was so beautiful the way he sang it to her. Love you, Mom.

Just an amazing band and song! Video is nice effort however I find the song's meaning is less about homeless souls than how we are all rather lost in these cities constructed more of our hopes and narrow circles rather than seeing the cities for what they are. We see it as a destination yet still feel longing for other places.

honestly has been an inspiration to me for years. thank you, though should have said it earlier. watched it for the first time the morning after having commune with a man on the streets downtown seattle. he was not allowed in the bar or coffee shop i invited him to, but of course that's fine because the steps of a park are better with your coffee, singing 'pools of sorrow, waves of joy' from that old song. After leaving him i missed my bus, decided to walk the 17 miles home, and when i got home with the sun coming up, my heart already torn open, somehow this particular video is what i found. those nights of terrible beauty (terrible underlined) are few and far and highly meaningful. Just seem compelled to confess this, as you might have been compelled to make the video. good things start slow and difficultly. Thanks.

I remember this band from Charleston, South Carolina...I saw them play this with an orchestra, and I was in tears listening to it. Sooo powerful to hear in person!

Beautiful music video to a beautiful and questioning song. Great work, thank you for sharing the inspiration that was "yours" but is now also "ours". :)

WOW - that's exactly why I love this song so much - you portrayed the feeling of an awareness of injustice within privilege. This was my wedding song. And I feel like I understand my life better from having seen your video. Thank you.
