I don't know about the languages, but this interpretation is very different from the studio recording - more colorful and intense. Very fine.

A beautiful voice but she misses the emotion of Elly Stone or Brel himself.

They x-rayed my leg this morning! It's marvelous! Healing is excellent! They project 6 more weeks and then I'll have 100% use of it again! Yeah! Considering I thought I was dead in April this is so coolio! 2 months and I can bike ride again! This is the only English language artist who does it right, never mind the accent. She sings it with the right emotions.

Yes, really great ! And Judy recorded it twice. Here we do have a live interpretation in the spirit of the second recording ( Running for my life Album). So wonderful, indeed ! Great thanks !

For those with complaints as to this particular version It was the album," Whales and Nightingales" that truly got my attention with its release in 1969."Farewell to Tawaithe","Time Passes Slowly","Marike".It is a very good album, perhaps like the lovers lament I would listen to this whole album time and time again. It possessed a quality that I believe was a shared event with Judy Collins sounding very good to perhaps beautiful. It is a highly cared for album and worth a recommendation even today.

Her performance is breath taking.

I suppose the accent critics would prefer Jacques Brel croaking this to an ethereal voice from an incredibly beautiful woman.

Least ways, to all those who thought her French was bad, it's better than it was in the late 60's early 70's when she first recorded it.

Judy Collins takes it away - as usual! This is a haunting tune - the music is gorgeous. This makes me lonely for - and miss terribly- my late great freind Betty Rhodes who sang this like no other - chanteuse extrodinaire. Betty Rhodes bade us farwell in 1988 and left many song in our hearts.

@leoantonio11 Hi again. Thanks so much for your language history. I never knew that and now I do feel more educated about our european relatives. BTW Judy Collins is great too even though her dutch and french are not. Cheers,Peter

@leoantonio11 I think it's Flemish, not Dutch. They are very similar,no?
