I don't know about this song. Is it sad? Is it not? I kind of think it's about a homeless person, but I'm not really sure

I also saw this original performance in 1967. This is one of the very best. She recorded and popularized this song two years before Randy Newman recorded it on his debut album in 1968. To date, there have been well over 50 covers of this beautiful song. Two Excellent covers you may want to check out are by David Gray and Norah Jones. They both do Randy proud!

Love that run on the keys just after "and I think it's going to rain today"!

Magnificent. This song breaks my heart every time I hear it.  I have loved it since I first heard it in 1967. I have only began to fully appreciate what a treasure Judy Collins is to us all.

A beautiful rendition of a great work by Randy Newman.  It will never lose its poignance or resonance.

i saw the same episode Kathy...but now that Ms. Streisand (pronounced Stry-Sand with an "S," my friend Liza is pronounced Lye-Za)! is pushing it on her latest album, no one has come close to interpreting this gorgeous song like Judy Collins. Can you imagine she first sang it in 1966! One of our true folk troubadors.

Heard someone sing this as background on "Scandal." I realized that I knew all the lyrics. I finally remembered where I knew it from. Judy Collins. Years ago and she is still an icon in my memories.

One of my favorite renditions of this song. Judy Collins at her best. Bette Midler and Nina Simone have also covered it very well. However, this version is beautiful and haunting at the same time. The song writer Randy Newman at his very best.
