It is incredible to watch and hear Judy and Graham Nash sing Randy Newman's masterpiece 24 years after she recorded it the first time for her album "In My Life" in 1966. It is 2014 now and 24 years ago this was recorded. Like her version recorded on New Years Eve 1967 on the Smothers Brothers, this is enchanting and extraordinary. This is an incredible rendition as is the elegant and mysterious performance from that glorious 1967 performance. Brilliant and timeless. I love you Judy!

The Phil Ochs quote was possibly from the album cover to Pleasures of the Harbor. If you are unfamiliar with Phil Och's work, please get to know him. This song is by Randy Newman.

If I had to sing my way into heaven, I would want Graham Nash to sing harmony. I'd be let in, for sure.

I know it's a year since you put this here, but can you tell me where you got the quotation from? Seems so apt now.

A simple lyric and melody, yet a profound meaning, and beautifully performed. Thanks for sharing this, betahifi.

FROM matthewf335: I remember Judy from way back in 1964. You're right, there was a lot of hope and freedom back then; interesting thing is that I haven't lost it. Fact is, I've got more of it now than I had back "in the day." I don't miss being 18; was too damned painful. I thank my Father for where I am now. I wish it could have been an easier ride, but it's been worth it . . . and people like Judy and CSN and the Muppers (!) have all made it a gas! Sorry for rambling on like this . . .
