I respect the fact that the civil wars dissolved and that's beyond my control, but I truly loved the music that came from that band. Wish there was more to come. Congrats on your success as a solo artist.

Pure joy to hear music like this after the Civil Wars created some beautiful music together . Joy Williams is a very talented individual. I have purchased the first three songs available off the Venus album and they are all brilliant. Keep them coming.

A very powerful song you wrote and have performed. Ye, that's "not what a good woman does" and there many secrets we habor through the pain, tears, & trials of a relationship during & after. Because thatvis "what a good woman does". Thankyou for such a moving & powerful song, I hope many not just listen, but really hear & feal it's message ♡.

I think Joy needs to stop making songs about another woman's husband. She basically did tell the world what he did. I absolutely love them together as a singing duo, but I think things became sexual between them, and since they are both married, THAT'S not what a good woman does.

This actually brought tears to my eyes. It is truly a haunting sound and an amazing vocal (Joy you are great at that!)....from the depths of your heart you speak in your songs to so much we can relate.

This song is beautiful but it makes me miss the fact that John Paul White isn't associated with it anymore. You can almost hear his harmonies and guitar over this. That being said I am glad she is still making good music after the fact. Still hoping they can figure it out and get back together. Probably no way but we can dream right?

I value the heartfelt insight but this plays like a passive aggressive dis on John.

Ok, this is really a good song. I really don't care if it is partly autobiographical concerning Civil Wars or not.

When they were a duo, and cancelled their tour, the statement they put out was "irreconcilable differences of ambition." I think it's as simple as that. She wanted to pursue a big career and he wanted to stay small. She had also just had a baby which changes everything SO much. The dynamic just didn't survive. Why does it have to be about sex or cheating? How about they shared an amazing chemistry that couldn't survive their "differences in ambition" and maybe her baby blues. I think Joy has really tried to continue on and do the thing she loves most, and have the confidence to do so outside the duo that made her famous. She is also trying to do so without saying anything negative about JP. Good for her. Stop trying to make it salacious bc that's a more interesting narrative. Let it be what it is and enjoy the new music.
