♫Alanna Nash once described Joy Lynn White as "a fiery redhead with a wild-and-wounded delivery and an attitude that says she's not to be ignored."♫

JOY LYNN WHITE

LYRICS:

The moon is full and my arms are empty

All night long I've pleaded and cried

You always said the day that you would leave me

Would be a cold day in July

Your bags are packed and not a word is spoken

Guess we said everything with goodbye

Time moves so slow when promises get broken

On this cold day in July

Sun's coming up, coming up down on main street

Children shout as their running out to play

Head in my hands, here I am standing in my bare feet

Watching you drive away

Watching you drive away

You said that we were gonna last forever

You said our love would never die

It looks like spring and it feels like sunny weather

But it's a cold day in July

Sun's coming up, coming up down on main street

Children shout as their running out to play

Head in my hands, here I am standing in my bare feet

Watching you drive away

Watching you drive away

The moon is full and my arms are empty

All night long I've pleaded and cried

You always said the day that you would leave me

Would be a cold day in July

You always said the day that you would leave me

Would be a cold day in July

Absolutely the best version ever! Love the Chicks but this is it for me.

The Dixie Chicks must have had some major respect for Joy Lynn White as well they should - they covered this song by her as well as "Tonight's the Heartache's on Me " . Although I do love the Dixie Chicks , Joy Lynn's versions , the originals , are far superior in my opinion. I have her old cds and only wish there were more of them .

Bought this album because this played this song on the local AM country station in Ypsilanti,Mich in 1993. Beautiful song. The dixie chicks dont come close to Joy Lynn's performance. Besides, she's way prettier. What a pretty redhead with a powerful voice. Thanks for posting

I love her too, and I just dug my cd out to put in the car today. it's been years, and it's like I just bought it! I saw her at Fan Fair way back in the early 90s. Still have my tee shirt too. She was so good, I don't know why she didn't get much more popular.
