John wrote "Tobacco Road," "Indian Reservation," Waterloo" and many other great songs and as a vocalist recorded some first rate stuff ("Angela Jones," "Road Hog," "Callin' Dr. Casey," "Blue Train," "Thou Shall Not Steal," etc.).
