My husband is singing along. One of our favorite singers. There were so many wonderful songs when we were youngsters.

One of the best versions of this song. Jimmie grew up just a relatively short way from where I live now, in WA state. One of our state's treasures.

Did Jimmie Rogers almost get killed by asking the 'label' for an accounting. Also Bobby Fuller, same label. If you read the Tommy James autobiography he talks about this. In the 60's Rogers appeared on late night TV shows. He had no rememberance of the 'beating', he was left for dead. He actually at the time thought it was the police who beat him. He was found on the side of the road. Roulette Records seems like the record company that Tony Soprano & Hesh owned.

A different take...I like the faster pace. Not better, just different. I love anything Jimmy Rodgers.

Not surprisingly, this version went Top 10 in Australia, but in 1959.

To Jimmie's manager: Do you remember my Tony? The woman in the wheelchair that was at Jimmie's show every night in Branson? Write to me, please. [email protected] Joanne Wright
