Charted at #6 on Billboard Hot 100 in August 1955. Original Billboard review: "Jaye P. Morgan is Victor's hottest canary now, and her waxing showcases her distinctive vocal style to fine advantage. She sings the ballad with perceptive phrasing and warmth, underscored by an assuring sense of vocal power. The side should grab off considerable jockey juke play."

Written by Eddle Pola and Fred Spielman.

B-side is "Swanee".

One of the best recorded songs from the 50's.......such a very pleasant distinctive voice that carries this well written and arranged number. Thanks for the upload.

Love her southern accent. :) I recall hearing this on WRUL shortwave when I got home from school. They did a top song countdown.

I remember hearing this when I was living on West 82nd Street just off Riverside Drive.

JP was during that period female singers of the fifties as good as any one and better than most--- she was truly underrated -- truly a top notch female vocalist

This goes out to anybody: if you had a choice of selecting an answer to the following question: 'Is thi the Jaye P Morgan who was on th Gong Show?' would you say "yes" or "no?"

I was just wondering if this is the same Jay P who was on The Gong Show.

The odd thing about Jaye P. was that her singing career showed her personality as normal and demure almost. But she could be raunchy if she wanted to like she was on the Gong Show. Either way, she was great.

Cats.....like this version better than 1963 version. Many people have different opinion. I happen to like Winterhalter's stuff better than Marty Paich's. Just subscribed to your site. Sheesh! We've got great taste in music, huh???

Jaye P. sang with Frank deVol at my Senior Prom at Mission Beach Ballroom in San Diego in 1952. She was married for a while to a good friend of mine, Chuck Kelly (sang with The Modernaires and now retired professor and published author) in the 50's. Of interest: [email protected] Mike, is webmaster for Jaye P.'s website. Bob King majskyking@g mail dot com

Love this song. What with Hugo Winterhalter's arrangment how could Jaye possibly go wrong.
