Ya and that's why the album didn't make it platinum. It only got gold because 80% of the album was clean jazzy. Those two songs Jason wrote made the difference from gold to nothing really no kidding!

I think Jason only wrote "Drop in the Bucket" and "Showtime" and then changed "A Little Ain't Enough" from a keyboard song to a guitar song; but that song, and all of the others on the album had already been written by the time he joined Dave.

I see where he's coming from and there's no denying he has that Baroque 'n' Roll 'thing' absolutely down, but a bit of respect for the original parts wouldn't go amiss. The original of this is one of Vai's most glorious compositions.

Here we are again people comparing Paul Gilbert To Jason Becker! They are both amazing guitarists and even more important amazing people, why do we as people have this need to put down those we don't like as much as others! Or compare who's better? I'm sure Jason Becker would have nothing but good to say about Paul Gilberts abilities and vice-versa! Please people stop worrying about who's the best or who's "God" and let the music do the talking!! A fan of Becker's and many other guitarists!!!

IMO, Vai's best work was with David Lee Roth. They made an excellent songwriting team. Vai wrote a lot of "Passion & Warfare" while on the "Skyscraper" tour, with David Lee Roth. Becker sounds great on these, and throughout "A Little Ain't Enough." Esp. on the title song, "Drop In The Bucket;" "It's Showtime;" "Lady Luck; "Baby's On Fire;" and "Tell The Truth." If "ALAE" had been cut down to traditional VH/Roth length -- 35:00 min - 40:00 -- classic album.
