One dumbass didnt like this!Life doesnt always have the fairytale ending which in a strange way still makes everything come out great.James can damn sure tell it and help ya get through it.As the Great Townes Van Zandt said"Theres only two kinds of music,Zippidy Doo Dah and The Blues"The rest is easy to figure out!

James McMurtry is as close as we come these days to the great Warren Zevon. Period.

"she never shaved like they all do now" --- what a line. sensual in the real sense of the word.....This is definitely one of the greatest songs he has written...such a love song seldom comes along...pure poetry set to beautiful music...

I don't say this lightly. But I think this song ranks up there with the great ones. There's not many people that can write a song like that.

I can’t recall hearing any song that ever painted such a vivid picture as “Ruby and Carlos”. By the end of it, we not only are introduced to the main characters but we begin to feel as they do. We swim across a wide pool of their history that McMurtry lays quite bare, just to get to the life safer of a chorus.
