He's a musical genius I've listened to all of his albums today on a long journey to and from work - frankly I haven't had 'candy land' off my CD player and my iPod for the last 2 yrs His songs are full of emotion, truth and a very lyrical, beautifully sparse and yet somehow richly detailed tapestry. Last album was full of highlights too ... Can't wait for his new one in 2015. This is a classic and so much quality in every phrase and guitar pick - brilliant

I have seen him live and it doesn't matter to me whether he likes people. I only know I love his music. His music makes me happy and I don't expect him to be social to anyone.

James just really doesn't like people, I mean come on, he's such a genius that most of us dummies piss him off, I loved him from the git go

Pure americana folk-rock singer-songwriter nostalgi-shit...Jeg plejede at høre meget i denne genre, men det er efterhånden mange år siden.Faldt helt tilfældigt over James McMurtry og denne her, og det mindede mig om hvor fedt musik med storytelling kan være.

Dylan is a poet (don't hold against it me that I made that trite an observation) but in this song, McMurtry might have wrote the only novel outline-song that I know of. It's pretty dense in detail but not enough to make it not to make it an insufferably long song. Just enough to make it you want to say, "Dude, you could make another 200 pages sing. But while we're waiting on that, play it again."

I'd say that Dylan is a better writer, and he's still a live. But I rate McMurtry just below Dylan...I talked to James about it after a show one time. He says that rating him that highly is ridiculous.

This is so great. I wish James McMurtry would do an solo acoustic album or tour. @miguel - I never made the blood on the tracks connection, but you're spot-on
