James Gang "Funk 49" guitar lesson. For the next Riff of the Day, we're using a Wampler Tweed '57 to produce Joe Walsh's raw, edgy tone . The Tweed '57 doesn't need much tweaking to produce the sound of a vintage combo amp giving its all, just a little mids and the linked bright and normal 'amp inputs' to put it over the top. The opening lick of Funk #49 has a classic Walsh country style bend which mutes the second A note almost entirely (live versions are more apparent). There are also all kinds of guitar techniques hidden in this seemingly simple tune; pre bends from a whole step down, pull offs and vibrato across 3 strings. Let's not forget the riff's percussive strumming that helps fill out the sound of this classic 3 piece band. Enjoy your daily guitar lesson.

Keep up your YouTube tutorials. I get bored with the note for note lessons. You can learn faster with the tutorials you provide. Thank you very much.

Please keep making these tutorials. They are, hands down, the best on Youtube. I love how there is no note-for-note bullshit . I also like how you stop and give a little example of whats being played, like the 'Jimi' chord thing. That is helpful.

Great job, though Joe plays the descending released bend with the pick and fingers (hybrid picking). The middle finger plays the percussive first note and the pick plays the second note which sounds as you release. Great job otherwise.

Thanks Dude, like your lesson.Worked great for me. I really don't need the note for note chord explanation. Just loved the slow version thing. Worked great at rehersal.
