This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the American release of James Bond, a character who has since entered the hearts and minds of people all over the world as the quintessential man of intrigue and espionage. This is a medley representing the first three films that began the cinematic James Bond experience as we know it, including great Dr. No, From Russia With Love, and the classic Goldfinger.
The original theme was written by John Barry, and has since reached an elevated status in pop culture and an eternal, global association with not only James Bond but spy movies, moments of espionage, and the entire cloak-and-dagger genre. As a testament to its endurance, 50 years later, the theme continues on in the latest James Bond movie Skyfall, becoming as much one of the character as any other aspect. With the openings of From Russia With Love and Goldfinger, the tradition of beginning every James Bond movie with a seductively designed montage with a carefully commissioned song from a contemporary artist was begun, another element of the films that have since become iconic.
