After the success of jackie's live album he signed with Modern Records releasing one single. This was supposed to be the hit but ended up as the "B" side. Instead of being backed by Frank Motley's group, Jackie was accompanied by studio musicians

A lot of bands in Toronto sounded like this in the 60's. Jackie was one of the better ones. Here in the Big Smoke some called it R&B, some called it Soul, some called it R&R but it was definitely a Toronto sound. We liked our Music back then. You could drink and drive to all the bars so long as you didn't run any body over in the old days. Toronto was a great place to grow up in from 55 to 75 musically. Concerts, Dances, Sock Hops, Bars, Nightclubs, festivals. Yep, those were the days. Gone now

In the late 60s Jackie Shane played every night in a club just off Yonge Street in Toronto. I used to go a lot. A terrific singer who should have become more successful.

I just watched a doc of the Yonge St musi scene in Toronto - amazing! Jackie Shane was an incredible member of such a bevy of talented Canadians. I did think it unfortunate that they didn't have much information on him, saying simply that he drifted into obscurity and not much if anything is known of his life. Can someone shed some light in this area, please? Shane was terrific

Wow Gerry, you definately got me on this one. This is soul and how it was back then and guess what it still sounds great today. Jackie was a true performer who could grace the stage with any of the top performers of the "soul scene". We need to find out what happened to this legendary artist. But for now, and because of your offerings, we still have him, thanks.
