I have read books about this stuff. If you've also done so(not books about revivalists mods/skins) then you should know the common link between mods & skinheads. There was no other group similar to skinheads that were considered "not tough" & were not mods either. Enlighten me. What were they called by the masses? I have to say I have not agreed with at least 99% of the stuff you stated but let's just leave it at that here. Gonna msg you one more time so you can respond there and then I'm done.

oh and there was another group that looked very similar to skinheads, but were considered something else because they were not tough and such. but they were also different from the mods. Basically you had the nice guys that kind of looked like skins and the skinheads who were angry, misunderstood, so on ect ect. Punk music would of been a big part of their scene as well since it was beginning to boom in the 70's.

and stop calling skinheads mods god dammit, they didn't exactly like the mods because they were a bit "sissy" in their eyes. You can read books about this stuff you know, i have. I have also watched documentaries with some of the biggest reggae icons of that time who played to the mods, skins and rude boys.

Of course a large number of them did, note that i am saying "pushing out" in reference to the underground where the youth would obviously be. I know skinheads listened to reggae and what not, but that is not what defines the scene and lifestyle. Some skinheads listen to that, others dont. You your self said they didn't even call them skins until later on. But i still think it is safe to say more skinheads can identify them selves with oi over ska and reggae.

Reggae was unheard of by the masses at the time, which is 1 reason why the skinheads took interest in it. So it would be wrong to say that they couldn't identify themselves w/ music bcuz they sure did with Reggae(it was even nicknamed "Skinhead Reggae" and they were quite a handful of songs with "skinhead" in the song title). I stand with what I said: Skinheads were Mods but just with a more harder approach. This is evident. I'll send you another video and a few links so you can see what I mean.

that video by the way is a nice look at the early days of skinheads but it does not define skinheads, each one had their different ideas about life. A lot would listen to the music that was being pushed out in those days but as you can clearly see they were just forming into a scene that was already formed. Honestly Oi to me was the first real music for the skinheads, they couldn't really identify who they were with the music before Oi was invented, and that is real truth.

so to reply to the video you showed me, which was nice. Clearly the skinheads were angry and hated anyone who wasn't like them, but like most people i have dealt with they will call you a poser skin for not having a shaved head. That really doesn't matter to me or you as i can tell, if you can see my pic i clearly have hair in it and i have been insulted by skins for this it doesn't matter to me though. It is well known most skins were working class and kept their hair very short.

you fucking dumb ass, if skinheads were mods then they would be called mods. holy fuck thats why they havent different names, seriously fuck the fuck off with your idiotic bullshit.

1/8th of an inch(a #1)? Not original skinheads. I agree that they were more aggressive than Mods(even though Skinheads were technically still Mods) but whether they were looking for a fight or not, cutting their hair for it wouldn't come to mind. They were more interested in the clothes & music. I'll msg you a link to a specific video.

Does it suck being a bitch everyday?

so it doesn't get in my eyes too. i know that goes for a lot of skins too.

they were harder so they got in more fights and weren't afraid to, the shaven head came with all of those things i told you. It wasn't just for looks.

1/8th i believe actually was the original length, it was started by youth in the uk. Like i said laurel aitken stated in a documentary about skinheads that he was very surprised to see a black skinhead at his shows he played through out the uk and surrounding areas. He was asked about race issues in the skinhead movement. I shave my head because i work around machinery and i know it is said the shaven head on the skinhead and mod scene was associated with the working class same goes for fights.

Many skinheads(late 60s/early 70s) didn't shave their heads, they cropped it(rarely shorter than a #3 & most had it longer than that)& they didn't cut it because of what you stated. Many did razor part it(an influence from the black culture). Skinhead was a continuation of Mod(the media gave them the name "skinhead")& carried on w/ being style conscious & appreciating black music(i.e Rock Steady, Reggae, Northern Soul, etc). Boots, braces & a shaved head doesn't make a skinhead(ex: bald Oi punks).
