Album: Fungus Amongus

Track: 6

I LOVE the bass part to this song. I think this song as well as the next track, "The Answer" would have fit right in on their album "S.C.I.E.N.C.E"

Heres what happened...Dirk Lance leaves the band. Incubus started to slowly suck afterward. Sad but true.

People tend to exaggerate about how hard the slap part is in this song. I think it's the speed that makes it fishy.Or maybe it's that I slap so fucking much that this doesn't seem hard at all to me.Not sure. rofl

I find it sad that whenever anyone hears a slap bassline in a rock song, they automatically think that band copied RHCP.

Probably why they wanted to change their style and cut their dreads. I miss this influence on them, but Morning View and Make Yourself were just as good too.

I think this is much darker than rhcp. Early rhcp was incredibly whimsicle and unserious.

No, I understand bands influencing each other for sure but replicating such a large part of their sound and character, down to Mike Pattons voice seems like Incubus struggles more or less to find an identity at this point, their later work reflecting more maturity and their own sound. Primus does not sound very much like Mr. Bungle at all but the similar sounds erupting in California around that time can be seen in all the bands mentioned for sure. FYI, Faith No More's singer IS Mike Patton.

On the other hand, Mr. Bungle was influenced by Primus, who came before them, and Faith No More was directly influenced by Mr. Bungle. Also, RHCP admitted that before they became a big name, their label wanted them to sound more like Living Colour. Bands influence each other bro, that's how genres are made.

This reminds me of Early RHCP mixed with Alice in Chains clean vocals and "screaming" Pink floud box haha, the best!

flea's a very over rated bass player imo, people seem to worship him as a god, yet half the time the same people have never heard of wooten, claypool, miller or the many other players out there that shit on flea

It's hard to come to Incubus debut album after listening to bands like Mr. Bungle, Faith no More, RHCP and not feel like it's taking pages straight out of their books.
